The IPO (Initial Public Offer) bt state owned PSB (Punjab Sind Bank) will be in market early next month most probably. Expectedly this will issue of 40 million equity shares with a face value of Rs 10 each. Equity dilution of 17.9 per cent will be seen by IPO. The government stake of 82.1 per cent will fall after the offer.
The PK Anand (Executive Director) said:
“We are planning to launch it in the first fortnight of December. The funds will be used to scale up lending and meet our requirements for the next two-three years. Besides getting us capital for expansion, listing will put a lot of positive pressure on us to perform,”
In India PSB is the only unlisted public sector bank which may give 5% discount to retail investors and employees. To consider this proposal board will meeting next week.
Earlier it was expected that bank will launch the IPO in July 2010 but as board has to rework the plans with government rules
which is 25% public shareholding. The rule was then relaxed to bank and it was allowed to them with their earlier plan of plan for 17-18% equity dilution.
Anand also said that markers are now looking better and this delay has proved the blessing in disguise after the coal India issue. Government of India has 100% stake in this bank and bank has reached capital infusion of Rs 700 crore to shore up its Tier-I capital above 8%.
In last fincial year, bank has posted 18 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 508.8 crore. Total income rose 19 per cent to Rs 4,345.9 crore and the net interest income 17 per cent at Rs 1,183.9 crore and business rose by 37.9 per cent at Rs 81,894 crore.

The Punjab School Education Board came into existence through a legislative enactment in November 1969 for the development and promotion of school education in the state of Punjab. In 1987, the Vidhan Sabha amended the Board’s Act to grant it autonomy. The scope of Board’s functions is very wide and covers almost every aspect/stage of school education. However, a brief account of functions, structure and activities of the Board is enumerated as below.
- To make necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of public examination at school level .At present the Board conducts public examinations at Middle, Matriculation and Senior Secondary Level.
– To prescribe the curriculum, courses of studies and text books for school education. The Board has a full-fledged academic wing, having subject experts in all the major subjects. The main responsibility of this wing is to prepare and revise the syllabuses regularly and then prepare text books accordingly.
– To arrange for the preparations, compilation, improvement, publication, printing and sale of text books.
– To make necessary arrangements for affiliations of schools to the Board
– To make efforts to bring about qualitative improvement in school education.
– To act as an advisory body to the state Govt. regarding School Education.

The ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ The ‘Education for All’ Movement, is a flagship programme of the Government of India pioneered by Atal Bihari Vajpayee for achievement of universalization of elementary education in a time bound manner, as mandated by the 86th amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory education to children of ages 6–14 (estimated to be 205 million in number in 2001) a fundamental right. The programme aims to achieve the goal of universalization of elementary education of satisfactory quality by 2010.
There are 8 main programs in SSA.It includes ICDS,AANGANWADI etc. It also Includes KGBVY. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidalaya Yojana was started in 2004 with a view to give primary education to all girls. later on it was merged with SSA.
