Milton Teagle Simmons known professionally as Richard Simmons, is a fitness personality who promotes weight-loss programs, most famously through a line of aerobics videos and television programs.Simmons was raised in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Cor Jesu High School .After starting college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he transferred to Florida State University.he studied as an exchange student in Florence, Italy. He graduated with a BA in Art.

It was his interest in fitness that helped him lose 56 kg.

Simmons eventually decided even though he merely “might as well be gay,” he could still be strong representative of the gay community.I love rhinestones and Barbara Streisand,” Simmons said. “But because I’m a sensitive person who is supportive of gay people the same way I’m sensitive to grossly obese people and ugly people.”
