On the heels of the one of the biggest mixed martial arts fight showdowns of the year, UFC aficionados are greeted with sad news - another of its fighters is killed. Justin Eilers was shot on Christmas night with a single gunshot wound on the chest, ending a promising career in mixed martial arts. This is the second death to hit the UFC this past week after Justin Levens, another UFC fighter, was also shot and killed together with his wife in their California home. The motive for both deaths have not yet been confirmed by police though domestic violence may have been the culprit in the Eilers shooting as the prime suspect in his death is said to be hismom's boyfriend, a certain James Malec. Justin Eilers was found shot and killed on Christmas night -- the second MMA fighter to die in a week.
Eilers died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to KIVI TV in Idaho. James Malec, the suspect, is reportedly the boyfriend of Eilers' mom. Malec has been arrested and charged with second degree murder and held on $1 million bail.
According to Sherdog.com, Eilers had a career fighting record of 19-7-1 and went 1-3 in the UFC.
On December 18, Justin Levens and his wife were found dead from gunshot wounds in a home in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
